Die schwammige Gegenüberstellung von Rechtsstaat und Demokratie ist darum so attraktiv, weil sie eine Prinzipientreue à la carte ermöglicht. Im Fall von Widersprüchen hat man mindestens eines der Prinzipien auf seiner Seite."

Genauso verhält es sich mit dem Begriff "repräsentative Demokratie". Mal betont man "repräsentativ" (wenn der Urnenpöbel sich als störrisch und uneinsichtig erweist), mal das "Demokratie" (wenn der Mob genau das fordert, was dem Staat die Beseitigung von Freiheitsrechten erlaubt).
Eigentlich ist "repräsentative Demokratie" ein Euphemismus für "Repräsentanten-Diktatur".
